Visa Requirements for Japan

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter Japan. Please check the visa requirements well in advance of your travel dates.

Visa Exemption Countries

Citizens of many countries can enter Japan for short-term stays (typically 90 days or less) without a visa. These include the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and most European Union countries. For a complete list of visa-exempt countries and the allowed duration of stay, please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website.

  1. Obtain the necessary application forms from the Japanese embassy or consulate.
  2. Prepare required documents, which typically include:
    • Valid passport
